Up to 250 new homes planned for Grantham

A proposal has been made to construct 250 new homes in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. The new estate, as proposed by property developer Bloor Home, would be comprised of a majority of three-bedroom homes and would include public green spaces and play areas for children.

Where would the new estate in Grantham be?

The proposed location for these 250 new homes is on a plot of land situated south of Somerby Hill, which is near the Prince William of Gloucester army barracks. This new estate would also be close to St Anne’s Primary School on Harrowby Road, and the local shops on Bridge End Road in Grantham.

Developers Bloor Home wrote in a design statement: “The proposed layout has carefully considered the site’s setting and constraints to deliver a development that is well integrated into the wider natural and built surroundings.”

What size homes would be built?

The proposed new estate in Grantham would consist of a mixture of houses between one bedroom and four bedrooms. However, the vast majority would be three-bedroom homes; plans indicate there would be 18 one-bedroom houses, 39 two-bedroom homes, 121 houses with three bedrooms, and 72 four-bedroom homes.

Plans also suggest that 30% of the 250 new homes would be ‘affordable houses.’ These houses would specifically be aimed at first-time buyers and those who otherwise couldn’t afford a home.
